Regand Park North Picnic Area Open To Community

Dubbo Regional Council has officially opened the new Regand Park North Picnic Area, delivering a much-awaited upgrade to one of the city’s riverside spaces.

The opening marks the completion of the first stage of works under the Macquarie River Master Plan, adopted by Council in April 2023.

The upgrade includes new amenities block, drinking bubbler, picnic tables with shade covers and reworked pedestrian pathways connecting the picnic area to surrounding parkland.

The project was supported by funding from the NSW Government in association with Council and the Titan Macquarie Mud Run.

Special Minister of State John Graham said the new picnic area would provide an inviting space for the community to enjoy the Macquarie River.

“This project has transformed this riverside location into a more accessible and welcoming place for families, walkers and visitors to enjoy.

“The NSW Government is pleased to see the way these upgrades have improved public amenity but also enhanced the natural environment along the Macquarie River,” Mr Graham said.

The upgrade is intended to make the area more accessible and better used by families, walkers and visitors to the river precinct.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the opening reflected Council’s commitment to improving public spaces along the Macquarie River.

“This is the kind of project that our community need. It’s a space by the river that’s easy to get too and welcoming for families.

“It’s a great example of what Council can deliver when we work closely with the community and with the support of the NSW Government,” Clr Black said.

Regand Park forms part of the Macquarie River Master Plan which outlines a 30-year vision for open parklands along the river, balancing active recreation spaces with quieter, natural areas.
