The Regional Emergency Operations Centre (REOC) at Dubbo has been activated following flooding and an ongoing gas outage.
The REOC is a central hub, based at Dubbo Police Station, where experts can monitor the situation in real time and coordinate a whole-of-government response.
The REOC will be in operation to support the NSW State Emergency Services (SES) and the Energy and Utility Services Functional Area (EUSFA) as they lead the emergency response to these significant events.
The team will access live information, intelligence sharing, digital mapping, as well as public information and media broadcasting resources to quickly get critical information to the public.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Police Paul Toole said activating the REOC puts us in the best position possible to manage both situations.
“These are unprecedented situations to be working against us but standing up the REOC will give us the resources, information, and real-time intelligence to tackle them,” Deputy Premier Toole said.
“We are taking a whole-of-government approach to help and support the community through.”
Regional Emergency Operations Controller, Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree, and said police are prepared to respond to both these challenging situations.
“Police are ready and able to assist where and when we are needed as these emergencies unfold,” Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree said.
“As we work closely with the lead agencies, we urge the community to corporate with us and follow any directions.”
