With so much extra time to prepare, competitors in this month’s Rogue Raid Adventure Race are more than ready to go.

The endurance and strategy competition, originally planned for May, has been rescheduled to August 29, following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Queensland.

Racers will line up from 6.30am at the Bayside Wake Park in Carbrook.

Their goal will be reaching as many checkpoints as possible over the next 24 hours, as they traverse Logan’s bush and river trails on foot, via mountain bike and in kayaks.

Teams must navigate through the course using a map and compass on a route of their choice.

It is the first time the Rogue Raid event has been held in Logan.

City Lifestyle Committee Chairperson, Councillor Laurie Koranski said the Logan region represented the perfect mix of scenery and challenge for outdoor events like Rogue Raid.

“Our city is truly environmentally diverse,” Cr Koranski said.

“We are rich in waterways, bushland and hiking and riding trails, making Logan the perfect choice for this outdoor adventure event.

“I’m sure Rogue Raid competitors will find the course challenging but enjoyable as they take in our natural scenery along the way.”

Race director Liam St Pierre said the race would be the 11th Rogue Raid event, which has steadily grown in popularity.

He said COVID-19 restrictions had not dampened the spirits of this year’s competitors.

“Our entrants remain keen to test themselves on this adventurous course,” Dr St Pierre said.

“This event has attracted some of Australia’s top adventure racers, including former national champions.”
