Residents reminded of parking restrictions as shops re-open

The City of Greater Bendigo is reminding residents to abide by parking restrictions as businesses begin to re-open in the city centre.

Manager Safe and Healthy Environments Caroline Grylls said parking restrictions were in place to support a turnover of parks so everyone could easily access the businesses and services they wished to visit.

“It has never been more important to shop local and support businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic and fair customer access to parking is critical to being able to do this,” Ms Grylls said.

“We are reminding residents that parking officers are patrolling the City’s streets to help ensure parks are turned over and readily available.

“Residents are also reminded to purchase a parking ticket to display on their car dashboard, where required. Almost every street in the city centre has a ‘tap and go’ ticket machine, so you do not need to carry coins.

“The key to local businesses getting back on their feet is for customers to be able to easily access them, so we need to ensure that there is a good supply of parking and that we all take responsibility for our fair use of parking in the city centre.”
