Revamped Funding for Territory Tourism Industry

NT Government

4 December 2021

The Territory Labor Government has reached agreement with the Commonwealth to launch a second round of the Tourism Survival Fund and Visitation Reliant Support program with payments under both programs set to triple.

Under round two of the Visitation Reliant Support program, payments to sole traders will increase from $1000 to $3000 while payments to employing businesses will rise from $3000 to $9000.

Round two of the Tourism Survival fund will deliver payments of $15,000, $30,000, $60,000 and $90,000 for businesses with a turnover between $75,000 and $10 million.

Businesses already approved in the first round of these programs will automatically be considered for additional support in round two. New applicants can also apply for support under round two.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate a turnover decline of 50 per cent over April to October 2021 compared to the same period in 2019 to ensure support flows to businesses in most need.

The cost of round two will be met within the existing joint $12.5 million funding envelope announced in August.

Applications are now open.

“We know this pandemic is not over and there is a difficult low-season approaching so we have worked with the Commonwealth to not only deliver another round of this scheme, but increase payments to hard-hit businesses.

“This extension of support means we can continue to drive the comeback in the Northern Territory.
