Wallan families can now enjoy a newly revamped reserve, supported by the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Suburban Development Ros Spence today officially opened the upgraded playground at Greenhill Recreation Reserve, made possible by a $110,000 investment from the Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
The playground features new equipment including two multi-purpose play units, climbing rocks, double swings and logs for nature play. More trees have been planted around the space, providing locals a cool, sheltered canopy.
Newly installed seating and furniture will allow parents and carers to keep a close eye on their little ones, and provide a space where community members of all ages and abilities can gather and socialise, while enjoying the outdoors.
The completed project reflects local needs and provides a place to help strengthen community connections, while encouraging greater recreation activities for Wallan residents.
Mitchell Shire Council also contributed $75,000 to the project.
The Growing Suburbs Fund has supported 346 projects representing a total infrastructure investment of more than $1.2 billion, creating over 11,340 jobs.
Through the 2023/24 Budget, the Government is investing another $18.9 million to support suburbs across metropolitan Melbourne with a range of initiatives, including $10 million for the Growing Suburbs Fund to support the delivery of critical local infrastructure in Melbourne’s fastest-growing communities.
A new round of the Growing Suburbs Fund is currently open, with applications closing on 20 October.
