Ricardo Barbaro arrested in NSW after South Melbourne death

Police have arrested Ricardo Barbaro in Sydney this morning as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of South Melbourne woman Ellie Price.

The 33-year-old Southport man was arrested by NSW Police in western Sydney about 1am on Thursday, 14 May.

The arrest follows an extensive investigation and operation by Victoria Police Homicide Squad and Fugitive Taskforce detectives with support from a number of other law enforcement agencies.

Investigators last week made an appeal for information about the whereabouts of the man.

The body of 26-year-old Price was discovered in her South Melbourne apartment on Monday 4 May.

At this time, detectives are not searching for anyone else in relation to the investigation.

Victorian detectives will now travel to NSW to apply for the man’s extradition to Melbourne.

Victoria Police would like to thank members of the public across Australia for their assistance.
