Riders embark national remembrance ride

Approximately 200 motorbike riders left the Police Academy this morning on the annual ‘Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance’ which arrives in Canberra on Friday 15 September.

This ride promotes motorcycle safety and awareness and supports Police Legacy. It culminates in a special ceremony at the National Police Memorial, joining more than 1600 riders from across Australia to honour colleagues who have fallen in the line of duty.

The event, which involves police – both active and retired officers – from across Australia also promotes safe and lawful motorcycling, while raising awareness and money for Police Legacies.

The riders left the SA Police Academy Wall of Remembrance at 9am after a short service and presentation of a commemorative baton.

Participants give their own time to attend the event, riding their personal motorcycles.

The ride is open to serving and retired police employees and all supporters of policing, not only as a commemoration of service and sacrifice, but also serving as a great social event for enthusiastic motor cyclists across Australia in celebration of the police family.
