Road and Bridge Update

Road and bridge construction and maintenance is continuing across the shire, with works this week including:

  • Works on Segment 2 of Clarence Town Road are nearing completion, with guardrail now installed and line marking happening early next week.
  • Council crews are continuing works on Segment 8 of Clarence Town Road (south of the Clarence Town Road and Cemetery Road intersection), with stabilisation works completed this week. The site will be under maintenance conditions until sealing is completed, which is scheduled for next week.
  • Works are progressing on the installation of safety barriers on Bingleburra Road, under the NSW Government’s Road Safety program. All site preparations for rail installation are now complete and contractors will complete the remaining rail installation over the next fortnight (approximately 1km remaining).
  • Shoulder widening and culvert extension works are continuing on Bingleburra Road, under the NSW Government’s $25M Special Purpose – Local Roads program. The project will deliver 650m of road rehabilitation close to the intersection of Allyn River Road.
  • Pavement works are continuing as part of a safety upgrade on Gresford Road at the Clements Road intersection, with stabilisation commenced this week. 1.4km of road will be upgraded under combined funding from the Australian Government’s Black Spot program, NSW Regional Roads Repair Program, and council funds.
  • Footing preparations for the installation of guardrail on Stroud Hill Road viaduct have commenced this week. Concrete pouring is planned for next week. Installation is planned by the end of June, following a period of concrete curing. These works are funded under the NSW Government’s Road Safety program.
  • The next round of tree clearing on Gresford Road has commenced this week, funded under the Australian Government’s Black Spot program.

The $16.44M timber bridge replacement program is continuing under the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Bridges program. Recent updates include:

  • The new Archinals Bridge is now open to traffic, being the second bridge to open in this replacement program, following the opening of the new Mary Carlton’s Bridge in December last year.
  • The deck for the new Hopson’s Bridge has now been poured, with preparations for bridge approaches being finalised.
  • Beams have been installed at Saxby’s Bridge and final preparations have been completed for the concrete deck, which is scheduled to be poured next week.
  • Contractors are continuing works onsite for the new Bruxner Bridge, with the focus this week being on replacing the approach slab support material washed away during the previous flooding event.
