Road safety improvements proposed for Masons Road

Residents are invited to have their say on proposed improvements to Masons Road in Mernda/Wollert.

Following the recent one-way trial of Masons Road, community feedback showed residents were in favour of reduced speeds, less traffic, including through traffic on the gravel section and the road remaining open and two-way.

To achieve these outcomes within the available budget Council is proposing to install 15 raised pavements on Mason’s Road between Plenty Road and Texel Drive and install a modified T-intersection at Pearsons Road to prevent further west-bound travel.

Originally built as a gravel road to provide local farm access Masons Road has become a popular rat run for residents wanting to bypass Bridge Inn Road.

The proposed traffic management improvements aim to reduce speeds on Masons Road and reduce the number of vehicles using the road as an east-west cut through.

To help inform Council’s decision on this proposal, you’re invited to have your say by completing a short survey by 4 October 2020.
