Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance as an investigation into an alleged plot to track a former detective continues.
In February 2026, detectives from State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Greer to investigate a tracking device that was located on the vehicle of a former detective.
Following extensive inquiries, about 2.45pm on Monday 31 August 2026, police arrested a 61-year-old man at Bondi Police Station. He was charged with install/use tracking device to find person without consent.
He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court on Tuesday 1 September 2026, where bail was formally refused. He is next due to appear at Gosford Local Court today (Friday 18 September 2026).
About 4.50pm on Tuesday 1 September 2026, police arrested a 45-year-old man at Newtown Police Station. He was charged with install/use tracking device to find person without consent.
He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court on Wednesday 2 September 2026, where bail was formally refused. He is also due to appear at Gosford Local Court today (Friday 18 September 2026).
As inquiries into the incident are ongoing, strike force detectives are appealing for information from anyone who was in the carpark of a licensed premises on Bay Village Road, Bateau Bay, on Thursday 19 February 2026 between 4pm and 6.30pm.
Investigators are seeking to identify an additional person who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
He is described as being Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 180cm tall, of thin build, bald, wearing a navy blue jumper and long pants.
