Robbery investigation leads to firearms charges in Enmore

A man will face court today on multiple charges following an investigation into an alleged break-in at a restaurant in Sydney’s inner-west.

Police commenced an investigation following reports that a restaurant on King Street, Newtown was broken into and personal goods were stolen about 7am on Thursday 6 February 2020.

Following inquiries, officers attached to the Inner West Police Area Command arrested a 47-year-old man yesterday (Wednesday 12 February 2020), who was taken to Newtown Police Station.

A subsequent search warrant was executed at a unit on Enmore Road, Enmore where police seized multiple firearms, a disassembled Glock pistol, a replica M14 rifle, replica M16 rifle with detachable magazine, replica M4 carbine rifle and a .44 calibre pistol.

The man was charged with five counts of possess unauthorised firearm, not keep firearm safe, aggravated break enter and steal and obtain benefit by deception.

Police will also allege in court, a card stolen from the Newtown restaurant was used to purchase goods.

The man was refused bail to appear Newtown Local Court today (Thursday 13 February 2020).
