Robbery with violence at Buxton

A 56-year-old man is in custody whilst police investigate an alleged assault, robbery of a paramedic and the theft of their ambulance in Buxton overnight.

Police will allege at about 10.30 the man was being transported by the ambulance crew at Gregory Street when he punched a male paramedic and threw an item at the female paramedic driving the ambulance.

Both paramedics tactically withdrew from the ambulance and requested urgent police assistance.

The 56-year-old allegedly drove away in the ambulance, which police located a short distance away in Hull Street and took him into custody.

The male paramedic suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the female paramedic was not injured.

The man is assisting police with their inquiries.
