Rosebud’s beloved foreshore precinct is set for a bright new future! Mornington Peninsula Shire will reinvigorate a popular section of the Rosebud foreshore from opposite Fourth Avenue to the eastern side of the Bowls club and includes the Village Green, Memorial Hall and the former carnival site.

The Rosebud Foreshore Master Plan presents a fresh design concept and we are asking our community to review the proposed changes and let us know your thoughts.

Rosebud foreshore is loved by both locals and visitors. We need to protect buildings and nature from future erosion and impact from climate change, such as rising sea levels and storm surges so our community can continue to enjoy this space. We have been and will continue to seek input from Traditional Owners during the entire project to ensure cultural values are recognised.

Key proposed changes include:

  • Improving the connection between the commercial strip, the beach and Rosebud pier playground.
  • Activate the space year-round through creating all abilities friendly spaces and improving access to services and sites for everyone.
  • Relocate facilities vulnerable to climate change off the foredunes to more appropriate areas.
  • Create a new cultural meeting place to share and support Traditional Owners’ history and living culture.
  • Consolidate the Motorboat Squadron and the Sailing Club facilities into one new building with a Changing Places toilet block.
  • Incorporate the band hall into the refreshed Memorial Hall design.
  • Reconfigure the shoreline to allow for planting that stabilises the foredune (also called soft engineering) and install dedicated viewing platforms and access routes.
  • Realign the Bay Trail to improve visual safety and hierarchy of vehicle access routes.
  • Upgrade existing public amenities and furniture (incl. bench seating, picnic tables, bike racks, shelters).
  • Retain, protect and conserve existing mature trees and dune vegetation.
  • Plant more canopy trees to create more natural shade.
  • Consolidate car parking and provide a stronger hierarchy of access routes and entrances for pedestrians, vehicles and boating equipment.
