Local boating and fishing enthusiasts will soon be able to look forward to a revamped Rye boat ramp.

We’re upgrading the west jetty thanks to the $100k grant funding from Better Boating Victoria (BBV) as part of their Recreational Boating Structural Maintenance Program. We have also contributed $50k to the upgrades after a recent inspection showed the jetty to have large safety concerns.

The upgrades will include:

  • repairing the existing piles
  • replacing upper and lower decking
  • securing the solar lights
  • fitting new handrails
  • repainting.

Works will begin on Monday 15 August and subject to the weather will be finished by Monday 26 September 2022.

The west jetty will be out of bounds during these dates however Rye boat ramp will remain open for boats to come and go.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:

“These much-needed safety upgrades will extend the lifespan of the jetty by up to ten years, welcoming fishing charters and boating enthusiasts to the Rye boat ramp for years to come.”

Quotes attributable to Nepean Ward Councillors Sarah Race and Susan Bissinger:

“The west jetty needs immediate attention and we’re pleased to be funding this project with Better Boating Victoria to upgrade this high demand facility.”
