South Australia’s jobless rate of 3.6 per cent is better than the national unemployment rate of 3.7 per cent, and better than Tasmania (4.4 per cent), Queensland (4.1 per cent) and Western Australia (3.8 per cent).
There are 958,000 South Australians in work, the highest number on record, up 3400 from the previous record in May 2023.
South Australia now has 633,500 people employed in full time work.
The state’s participation rate remained at 64.3 per cent, the third best participation rate on record.
The rate of growth in the number of people employed through the year came in at 4.1 per cent far exceeding the national rate of 3 per cent. There are currently 49,500 more South Australians employed than at the time of the March 2022 election.
In the year to March quarter, South Australia has also recorded positive net interstate migration data, meaning there were more people choosing to move to SA from other states than South Australians moving interstate.
