Saving planet – and dollars

This week, we’re celebrating National Recycling Week and Garage Sale Trail. To complement these two exciting events, we’re focusing on repairing and reusing.

We’ve lined up a suite of events, competitions, and resources dedicated to empowering our community to rethink our consumption habits by buying less and reusing more.

Flipping fabulous ideas

To help you ease into living more sustainably, we’ve got some great tips on how to upcycle items.

‘Fast furniture’ is on the rise, with many pieces having a very short lifespan.

Because of this, it is not uncommon to see these pieces illegally dumped in the streets or thrown out as part of hard waste collection. This is having a huge impact on our environment – and our wallets.

This National Recycling Week we want to show you ways to recover and save your well-loved furniture.

The following tutorial will tell you how you can turn old and worn pieces of furniture into an upcycled beauty. It will save you some money and help you avoid sending valuable materials to landfill.

Furniture revamp tutorial

Rachelle from Monnow Lane Furniture shows us how she transformed a not-so-cute chest of drawers into a beautiful piece of furniture that will be cherished forever and (hopefully) avoid landfill altogether.

Her step-by-step tutorial is super easy to follow. You can save lots of furniture pieces from ending up in landfill by following or being inspired by Rachelle.
