Children of all ages are invited to come and enjoy a variety of free activities daily at Darwin Waterfront throughout the April School Holidays this Mayilema Season from 11 to 16 April 2022.
Day 1 kicks off with an epic party at the Wave Lagoon and adjacent basketball court with cool tunes, waves and free slam dunk sports with Basketball NT from 10am to 12pm on Monday 11 April.
Day 2 will activate the Recreation Lagoon with free Surf Life Saving Nipper programs focussing on Water Safety aimed at ages 5 to 13 years from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday 12 April.
Wednesday 13 April (Day 3) from 10am to 12pm isn’t for the faint hearted with the return of the greatest ever water balloon fight at Water War Zone in the parklands, along with double trouble dual lane and 12metre giant waterslides and the monster foam machine canon. All free!
Unique to the Waterfront on Day 4 is the ultimate ‘learn to scuba dive’ experience in the Wave Lagoon for ages 10 years and over, which must be pre-booked to secure a spot on Thursday 14 April. For non-scubas, the parklands is the place to be to ‘Accept the challenge’ from 10am to 12pm with free giant game challenges on the lawns including a gladiator dual, a bungee run and giant Twister.
Children can join the circus on Day 5 with all the traditional trick favourites and the spectacular spinning plates and flower sticks, all free from 10am to 12pm on Friday 15 April.
For those who haven’t met a real-life mermaid before, Mermaid Sandy will make an appearance in the Recreation Lagoon each weekday at 12pm, telling ocean stories, allowing photos and answering questions about what it’s like to be a real mermaid.
On Saturday 16 April dress the family up at 5.30pm for a chance to win a fantastic prize for best character inspired by a favourite movie, book or game. The Mario Kart games battle will be featured on the big screen before the free screening of Tom and Jerry (PG) animation under the stars.
Families are also reminded that they can casually enjoy a variety of activities at Darwin Waterfront with the Wave Lagoon, Recreation Lagoon, Aqua Park inflatable waterpark and interactive Royal Flying Doctor’s facility and more open all day, every day throughout the holidays.
