Search and Rescue in Adelaide River

Northern Territory Water Police were notified of an EBIRB activation in Wilshire Creek in the mouth of the Adelaide River yesterday morning.

Police received the notification at about 9:30am yesterday morning. Rescue crews launched from Saltwater Arm within 20 minutes to begin their search and rescue operation.

The man was found in the mouth of the Adelaide River and conveyed to Crabbers Camp where he was transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Acting Superintendent Mellon said, “This was a co-ordinated response between Water Police, Border Force and a Contracted search and rescue helicopter operating out of Katherine. This was in response to a medical emergency on board a commercial vessel and demonstrates the importance of an EBIRB for all situations on the water where immediate assistance is required”
