Search to resume for missing fisherman at Kiama

A search will resume today for a fisherman reportedly missing in waters off Kiama.

Just after 6.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 2 May 2023), emergency services were called to Kiama blowhole following reports a man in the water had failed to resurface.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were told the man – believed to be aged in his 70s – had been rock fishing before being swept off the rocks.

Police, with assistance from officers attached to Marine Area Command, Kiama Surf Life Savers and the NSW Ambulance helicopter conducted a coordinated search without success.

The search is set to continue at first light today (Wednesday 3 May 2023) with additional assistance from police divers and PolAir.
