A second man has been charged in relation to the attempted theft of farm equipment from a rural property in the state’s Central West region.
Between 12.39am and 1.27am Monday 2 September 2019, a property owner was alerted to a break-in at a shed on his property near Peak Hill.
On attending the property, the victim saw a Toyota Landcruiser allegedly towing a trailer containing an ATV and various farming equipment, all previously stored at the location.
The victim followed the vehicle which allegedly rammed the victim’s utility before leaving the scene with several witnesses in pursuit.
It is alleged two passengers from the Landcruiser climbed from the cabin into the rear tray of the moving vehicle, unhooking the stolen trailer and discarding the power tools and equipment onto the roadway.
Rural Crime Investigators attached to Central West Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into the matter.
About 7pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 September 2019), police arrested a 41-year-old man at the Parkes Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break enter and steal, malicious damage, drive in a manner dangerous and failing to supply drivers details of a motor vehicle.
He was released on conditional bail to appear at Parkes Local Court on Friday 11 October 2019.
The arrest comes after a 22-year-old man was arrested at a Derribong Street home at Peak Hill about 10am Tuesday 3 September 2019. He was charged with aggravated break and enter, malicious damage, and cultivate and possess prohibited drug.
He was also charged with malicious damage after allegedly damaging a cell door at the Parkes Police Station while in custody.
The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Parkes Local Court on Friday 15 November 2019.
