Securing TasTAFE’s future and delivering on PESRAC recommendations

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Skills, Training and Workforce Growth

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing to progress our Plan to deliver a more future-focused TasTAFE.

In line with the PESRAC recommendation to ensure TasTAFE is placed on a fit-for-future footing, tenders have now opened for work to review and consider TasTAFE’s infrastructure needs over the long term.

We are committed to ensuring TasTAFE students have the best possible learning and teaching environments across the state, so this work will feed into TasTAFE’s development of a 10-year Strategic Physical and Digital Asset Management Plan as outlined in the Transition plan released in August.

Importantly, we have already taken strong action to fund improvements to TasTAFE’s infrastructure as part of our $98.6 million plan, which includes $45 million for critical facility and equipment upgrades, new buildings and new student accommodation.

This work will consider TasTAFE’s infrastructure with a focus on meeting future demand and needs, including:

*Contemporary equipment and technologies;

*Contemporary training practices;

*Student experience; and

* Sustainability and environmental footprint.

Our TasTAFE transition plan is focused on delivering positive outcomes so that TasTAFE can train the workforce of the future.

The tender closes on November 13 and more information can be found at: www.tenders.tas.gov.au
