Security Council: Threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts

The Security Council met this afternoon to discuss threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.

The Council had before it the eighteenth report of the Secretary-General on the threat posed by ISIL (Da’esh) to international peace and security and the range of United Nations efforts in support of Member States in countering the threat (document S/2024/117). Briefing on the subject were the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, the Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate and the Secretary General of the International Police Organization (INTERPOL).
