Professional Standards Command have charged a senior constable from Southern Region following an internal investigation.
The male officer has been charged with recklessly cause injury and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.
It is alleged the officer, who was off-duty at the time, assaulted a woman known to him in Melbourne’s CBD on 7 January 2023.
The 31-year-old has been summonsed to appear at a court at a later date.
