Service station fire in Belmore

Local traffic diversions are in place following a fire at a service station in Sydney’s south-west this afternoon.

Just before 3pm (Saturday 5 March 2022), emergency services were called to the service station on Canterbury Road, Belmore, following reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and have contained the blaze, which continues to burn.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and with the assistance of Traffic and Highway Patrol have established local traffic diversions.

Canterbury Road remains closed in both directions between Kingsgrove Road and Thorncraft Parade/Charlotte Avenue. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A man, suffering minor burns, has been treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Canterbury Hospital. A second man presented to Canterbury Hospital, suffering serious burns. He will be transferred to Concord Hospital for further treatment.
