ServiceWA trial opens to reform government service delivery in Bunbury

  • ‘One-stop shop’ opens in Bunbury to make it easier for the community to access a range of government services
  • Customers will be offered over 80 transactions from five government agencies under one roof
  • The McGowan Government is committed to improving service delivery to all West Australians
  • The McGowan Government has today launched the ServiceWA trial in Bunbury, a new customer service centre that will make it easier for Western Australians to do business with government.

The ServiceWA trial brings together over 80 transactional services from five government agencies to a single location. Agencies involved include the Departments of Transport, Justice, Communities, Primary Industries and Regional Development and the Western Australia Police Force.

Located in the existing Department of Transport Bunbury Centre, ServiceWA will welcome customers from Bunbury and the greater Geographe region.

Customers can use the ServiceWA centre to apply for or renew their drivers and fishing licences or a seniors card, as well as pay for a range of fines and infringements.

As well as facilitating face-to-face customer service, staff will also be available to show customers how they can complete their future transactions online, at a time and location that is convenient to them.

The trial centre will provide useful insights to inform and shape the future direction of government’s service delivery in WA.

As stated by Finance Minister Ben Wyatt:

“ServiceWA places customers at the centre of government service delivery.

“It moves away from the traditional siloed structures of government and allows customers to access services in a simplified way.

“Customers can also come into the centre to learn how they can complete government transactions online to save themselves time standing in queues or travelling to various service centres.

“In establishing this trial centre, a range of local businesses were engaged for the office fit out, signage, staff uniforms and other support services, injecting more than $200,000 into the local economy.”

As stated by Bunbury MLA Don Punch:

“This trial will identify what does and doesn’t work for customers. It’s an exciting opportunity for the people of Bunbury to help shape the future of service delivery for the entire State.

“Not everyone is confident navigating online to conduct their business with government services. This initiative will make sure those people still have the opportunity to access a traditional face to face service.

“I know this new service will be appreciated by many people Bunbury and the wider region.”
