The Diamond Creek Police Station was lit up in blue on Friday night in honour of the four Victoria Police officers who lost their lives so tragically while working to keep our community safe.

Nillumbik Shire Council has joined with Victoria Police to pay their respects to the officers – Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Glen Humphris and Constable Josh Prestney.

The police station was bathed in blue and four light beams were projected into the sky, representing each of the officers.

Mayor Karen Egan said joining with Victoria Police to light up the station was a tangible gesture of support and solidarity with officers.

“Our hearts and thoughts are with the loved ones and colleagues of the officers who died,” Cr Egan said.

“On behalf of Nillumbik councillors, staff and residents, I wish to express our deep sadness at this awful tragedy and to thank all our police officers who each day, selflessly put their lives on the line to protect our community.”

Victoria Police thanked the Nillumbik community for their support over the past week.

“Police would like to extend their gratitude to the Nillumbik community for their condolences, support and compassion shown to police during this difficult time.”
