Shopping trolley used in offences at Port Kembla, NSW

A man will face court today after allegedly attempting to ram a shopping trolley into a service station in Port Kembla at the weekend.

Between 8pm and 9.30pm Saturday (27 October 2019), an unknown man attended a service station in Port Kembla.

The man allegedly attempted to steal a number of items, which were retrieved by the service station attendant before the man left on foot.

A short time later, the man returned and allegedly used a shopping trolley to ram the front door of the service station before lifting a fuel bowser and threatening to burn down the service station.

Police were called and attended shortly after. A 34-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

The man was charged with malicious damage, offensive language, breach bail, demand property with menace with intent to steal and attempt stealing.

He was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Monday 28 October 2019).
