Police are investigating after a vehicle allegedly struck an officer last night.
About 10pm Thursday (1 February 2024), officers from Ryde Highway Patrol were conducting stationary random breath testing on Wicks Road, Ryde, when they observed a black Audi sedan attempting to evade the testing site.
Police stopped the vehicle on Coxs Road, Ryde, and while they were conducting checks, the vehicle allegedly drove at police. Police discharged a single round at the vehicle’s windshield, before the vehicle drove away.
The officer sustained an injury to his leg and was conveyed to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment.
Following inquiries, police located the vehicle at a home in Melrose Park. The vehicle has been seized and will undergo forensic examination.
Police spoke with two men and a woman at the home, who are assisting police with their inquiries.
