Significant cleaning works in Yarra Ranges and surrounds

The State Government has organised for disinfecting and sanitisation works to take place around Yarra Ranges through May and June, through its Working for Victoria Scheme.

From 7am-6pm daily from 18 May, hard surfaces that are regularly touched, such as handrails, poles, signs, furniture, bins and other public infrastructure will be disinfected and cleaned by working crews in a proactive attempt to reduce COVID-19 spreading in the community.

This work will be mainly occurring around Upwey, Tecoma, Belgrave, Healesville, Lilydale, Mooroolbark, Chirnside Park and Olinda, and will be complemented by Council’s regular working crews.

It is expected that the cleaning works will occur for 28 days from 18 May, finishing on 15 June.

All cleaning products will be diluted to be safe for community use, do not contain bleach, are EPA approved and eco-friendly.

Similar cleaning works are taking place in a number of Council regions through the COVID-19 pandemic.

This work has been made possible thanks to the State Government’s Working for Victoria scheme, where workers displaced from their original jobs during the pandemic can get work opportunities in other industries.
