Skilling Territorians: New Summit to Help Boost Aboriginal Training Opportunities

The Territory Labor Government is investing to increase Aboriginal participation in the NT workforce with a new summit aimed at boosting training opportunities.

The Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE) is today hosting the inaugural Central Australia Local Workforce and Skilling Summit in Alice Springs to bring together local business and industry with public and private training providers.

The summit aims to foster partnerships between employers and training providers to help engage all Central Australians with workforce opportunities and to build skilling and training opportunities for Aboriginal people.

It is hoped the summit will help training providers gain a better understanding of local employers’ needs, as well as identifying potential training opportunities in local businesses.

The Territory Labor Government is supporting this event through a $10,000 workforce training grant.
