COVID Cases in SA
There have been 2,983 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 15,960 active cases in South Australia.
Tragically, SA Health can confirm a child under the age of three who tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away. The cause of the death is currently being determined following a referral to the Coroner as per standard process.
In addition, SA Health is reporting the sad passing of a woman in her 90s, one man in his 70s, two men in their 80s and one man in his 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 222 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 138 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 78 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and six have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

The latest genome sampling has found 98.2% of samples taken were BA.2.

COVID testing
Yesterday 9,084 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 39.2% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,614 PCR tests were positive, while 1,369 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 95.8% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.8% of eligible South Australians and 68.1% of South Australians aged 16+.
