COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,053 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 29,106 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 306 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 171 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 75 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 60 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found 34.8% of samples analysed were BA.2, 19.7% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 45.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 6,772 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 15.3% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,005 PCR tests were positive, while 2,048 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 73.9% of eligible South Australiansand 69.5% of South Australians aged 16+.
