COVID cases in SA

There have been 786 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 6,936 active cases in South Australia.

There are 227 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU, with one person ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 156 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 59 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 12+ have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

*Two reported deaths have been removed from the total due to deaths found to be unrelated to COVID-19

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 7.4% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 90.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 3,782 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 14.7% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 363 PCR tests were positive, while 423 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.9% of eligible South Australians and 70.6% of South Australians aged 16+.
