COVID cases in SA

There have been 3,363 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 27,506 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm there have been 19 deaths. A woman in her 60s, a woman in her 70s, two women in their 80s, three women in their 90s, two men in their 60s, two men in their 70s, three men in their 80s and five men in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 3 February 2022 and 23 July 2022 and include latest monthly data released from Births, Deaths and Marriages.

There are 384 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 222 were vaccinated with three or more vaccine doses, 128 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 34 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 20.7% of samples analysed were BA.2, 18% of samples

analysed were BA.4 and 56.7% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 7,667 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 17% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,562 PCR tests were positive, while 1,801 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and

94.1% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.2% of eligible South

Australians and 69.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
