COVID cases in SA

There have been 3,773 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 26,675 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 90s and two men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 379 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 216 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 130 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 33 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 20.7% of samples analysed were BA.2, 18% of samples analysedwere BA.4 and 56.7% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 8,336 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 8.72% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,686 PCR tests were positive, while 2,087 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
