Special Sunday event: Visit Chalk Art on George

Hawkesbury City Council is sponsoring a new public art project to create temporary chalk artworks in George Street, Windsor from 9am to 3pm this Sunday, 5 May 2019.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Barry Calvert is delighted that Hawkesbury Community Arts Workshop is coordinating the unique project.

“Council’s sponsorship includes paying artist fees to eight local artists for their artworks,” the Mayor said.

“I’m sure our residents and visitors will all be excited to see all the art being created on the spot in our wonderful heritage town of Windsor.”

The artworks will start at the end of Windsor Mall on the corner of George and Fitzgerald Streets and continue along to Hawkesbury Regional Gallery at 300 George Street, Windsor.

“I hope that locals and visitors take the time to enjoy the Windsor Mall Sunday Market and then continue along George Street to watch talented Hawkesbury artists at work,” Councillor Calvert added.

“At the Gallery, you will also be able to join in and try your hand at being a chalk artist. There will also be outdoor chalk pavement activities and a chalk wall art activity inside the Gallery. There is also a current exhibition of artworks by local resident Alan Cleary, so that’s worth a visit too!”

The Gallery is located at 300 George Street, Windsor. Entry to the Gallery is free. Weekend opening hours: 10am to 3pm. For other opening hours and information, visit www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/gallery or call 4560 4441. Connect with the Gallery at www.facebook.com/hawkesburygallery
