Spectator charged after assault at junior league game in Kellyville

A man has been charged following an alleged assault at a junior rugby league game at Kellyville last weekend.

On Sunday (29 June 2019), ground officials approached a 34-year-old spectator about his behaviour towards the referee. Another man approached one of the officials and punched him to the face.

A parent from the opposing team intervened and the same man approached him from behind and allegedly punched him to the head knocking him to the ground.

The group were separated by match officials and bystanders, and the incident was reported to police.

Yesterday, (Tuesday 9 July 2019), the man attended Castle Hill Police Station and was arrested. He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and affray.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on 7 August 2019.
