In great news for Alice Springs, entries for the Red CentreNATS this weekend have reached capacity, with 750 spots now full, but there’s still the chance to attend the action-packed three-day event as a spectator.
As always, entrants are coming from far and wide, including Queensland, South Australia, and even Tasmania. There has been incredible local support this year too, with more first-time entries than ever before.
Red CentreNATS includes burnouts, drag racing, grass driving, motorkhana, 4WD-ing, show ‘n’ shine, show cars, the famous street parade, street cruising, an after party at Lasseters and more.
The event runs from 4-6 September 2020. Tickets cost $30 for a three-day pass, which includes access to all three venues – Lassesters, Blatherskite Park and Alice Springs Inland Dragway (ASID). It does not provide access to The Hill at ASID, which is restricted to entrants, their buddies and Chrome Pass holders, in line with physical distancing guidelines. “Having this number of entries booked in is a great result for the Red Centre, and for all the fans coming along to watch the action. It means this Father’s Day weekend will be just as lively as in previous years, and we are looking forward to things kicking off on Friday with the burnout qualifiers at ASID.”
As noted by Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez:
“We expected a reduced number of entries this year due to border restrictions. We thought 500 would be a great result, and 600 a dream.
“The idea of 700 entries was pure fantasy, and we were stoked to pass that figure on 31 August. We’ve now topped 750 entries, which is the number the competition can appropriately handle, so we’ve had to close entries.
“With that number of entries it’s set to be a fantastic show. If you’ve never been before, maybe this is the year to lose your L plates.”
