State Highway Patrol police nabbed a speeding driver at Nathalia yesterday.
Officers clocked a white 2019 Hyundai i30n allegedly travelling at 164km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Shepparton Barmah Road around 4pm
Police intercepted the vehicle and spoke to the driver.
The 44-year-old man’s driver’s licence was suspended immediately for a period of 12 months, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1375.
The Nathalia man is expected to be charged on summons with traffic-related offences.
Meanwhile, State Highway Patrol solo units intercepted a man and a woman riding off-road motorcycles on Walshs Road in Goughs Bay yesterday afternoon.
They were given preliminary breath tests and tested for illicit drugs, with the male allegedly testing positive for cannabis.
Both were unlicenced.
The motorcycles were impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1865 each.
The impounds were part of Operation Compass, the state-wide road policing operation during the high-risk Easter holiday period.
Police are targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction, and fatigue in high-risk areas throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Operation Compass concludes at 11.59pm on Monday, 25 April.
