Sport Australia launches new Sport Volunteer Coalition

Earlier this year Sport Australia released its Sport Volunteering National Plan – a four-year plan to better understand the opportunities for the future of sport volunteering. A key action item from the plan is to develop a Sport Volunteer Coalition and a Coalition Plan.

Sport Australia is excited to announce that expressions of interest are now open for up to 10 representatives on its inaugural Sport Volunteer Coalition. The coalition will play a critical role in supporting Sport Australia develop strategies to deliver on our sport volunteering vision for the sector.

Sport Australia is looking for Coalition representatives from national sporting organisations and national sporting organisations for people with disability, state and territory departments, academia, industry, and volunteer experts.

Candidates will be required to have the following attributes:

  • In-depth understanding of the current issues impacting the sport volunteer landscape
  • At least 10 years’ experience working within the sport and/or volunteer sector
  • Demonstrated success/experience in leading industry-wide initiatives focused on volunteering
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform relevant key stakeholders to support decision making
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and driving strategies at a national level.
