The COVID-19 pandemic has meant we’ve had to cancel or modify many of our major fundraising events this year, including Relay For Life, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and HBF Run for a Reason.

Despite the circumstances, we are so grateful for the support and generosity of our incredible fundraising community, who have continued to raise funds and support West Australians impacted by cancer – thank you!

As a community-funded organisation, the funds raised have ensured we can keep providing vital support and assistance to the WA cancer community, including our Wig Service, financial assistance program and counselling service.

We’d like to recognise some of our incredible supporters who have raised funds over this time:

Levi’s Burpees for Cancer

Levi's Burpees for Cancer

High Wycombe resident Levi Kissick-Ponga has raised almost $30,000 for Cancer Council WA through his burpee fundraising challenge, which was held on 7 August at Plus Fitness Wattle Grove.

The 32-year-old gym trainer started his fundraising journey in 2016 by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most burpees in 12 hours. Since then, Levi has been setting burpee challenges for himself and other gym members and never imagined he would be able to raise this much money for the local community.

A number of Levi’s family members, including his brother, aunty and grandfather, have been affected by cancer and they were his primary motivation for supporting Cancer Council WA.

“It is a tribute to my family,” he said.

“Every challenge I have set for myself over the years I have been able to achieve because of them.

“Every time I want to give up, I think about what they have to go through and it pushes me to keep going. They have gone through far worse, so I am doing it for them.”

Thank you, Levi!

Head shave for Jan

Head shave for Jan

Jan Cooper, former AFL Manager of Female Football Development and AFLW Premiership ambassador was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

While she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment and started to lose her hair, Jan’s sons, Brent and Jake, decided to hold a head shave fundraiser to support their mum and others impacted by cancer.

Their original goal was to raise $3000 but they quickly surpassed this figure and raised over $30,000 for Cancer Council WA, which included support from past West Coast Eagles players Adam Selwood and Drew Petrie.

The family held their head shave fundraising event on 2 August.
