Some of the world’s best masters’ athletes will test themselves against Springwood’s renowned “Stairs of Death” this weekend.

The challenge is part of the City of Logan this week hosting the 2019 iF3 Masters World Championships.

Athletes aged from 30 to 71 from 14 countries will contest the championships.

The 273 competitors will do a 4.5km course, including an endurance test, on Sunday.

The course features the high-intensity steep bushwalk stairs in the Springwood Conservation Park.

The world titles are at the Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre tomorrow and Saturday.

Australian Functional Fitness Federation President Mel Robinson said it was a great opportunity for Australia’s masters’ community.

“They will compete on their home soil alongside international athletes,” Ms Robinson said,

“This will create memories and friendships to last a lifetime.

“We look forward to welcoming all the competitors to the City of Logan.”

The three-day program will feature six different tests.

“The competitors can’t wait to take part. This will test their mettle.”

A live stream of the event will be available via facebook.com/australianfunctionalfitness/

Spectator tickets are available at the door.
