Statement from Attorney-General regarding Opposition

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence The Honourable Shannon Fentiman

Opposition Leader David Crisafulli has failed the most basic test of standards by not apologising for blatant lies exposed by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Dozens of times, including a peak run of 10 media conferences and four interviews in just a two week period, Mr Crisafulli and his so-called integrity team of Jarrod Bleijie and Fiona Simpson spread lie after lie.

The CCC said “Commentary which has suggested that laptops were ‘seized’ and ‘wiped’ as a result of a ‘raid’ on the Integrity Commissioner’s offices is, in the CCC’s view, a mischaracterisation of what occurred.”

That’s polite language for rubbish.

The Opposition threw those words around over and over again, along with ludicrous and insulting references to “goon squads” and the Kremlin.

It was deliberately wrong, and there was no integrity in that.

Now Mr Crisafulli, like all weak leaders, does not even have the decency to say sorry.

Failing to apologise for fear-mongering talk of “goon squads” and “raids” is worse than irresponsible.

He’s shown complete disregard of the duty of an opposition to carry out its important role with honour, trustworthiness and above all truth.
