Today I am announcing changes to The Nationals’ Shadow Ministry and parliamentary team, following Tim Bull’s decision not to seek re-election at the November State Election.
Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, will enter Shadow Cabinet as the Shadow Minister for Water, Shadow Minister for Consumer Affairs and Shadow Minister for Disability, Ageing, Carers and Volunteers.
Jade has been a strong and passionate voice for the communities of the Mildura electorate since entering Parliament and her role as Shadow Minister for Water reflects how critical water is to her community. With a farming background and deep roots along the Murray, she understands first-hand the challenges facing river communities, irrigators and regional Victoria.
In her other portfolios she will fight for the interests of some of Victoria’s most vulnerable residents, and help tackle rental affordability and the cost of living crisis on behalf of consumers everywhere.
Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, will assume the portfolios of Racing and Veterans’ Affairs while retaining his existing responsibilities as Shadow Minister for Liquor and Gaming.
Tim has made a strong contribution to our parliamentary team and I know he will bring enthusiasm and dedication to these additional responsibilities.
The Member for Northern Victoria Region, Gaelle Broad, will take on the Shadow Assistant portfolios of Regional Development and Agriculture.
Gaelle is a tireless advocate for country communities and her understanding of the issues facing regional Victoria makes her a natural fit for these important portfolios.
I am also pleased to appoint the Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, as The Nationals’ Whip in the Legislative Assembly.
Martin is a respected member of our team and will bring strong leadership and commitment to the role.
I am incredibly proud of The Nationals team. We have a united, hardworking and talented group of MPs who are deeply committed to the communities they represent.
As we head towards the November election, The Nationals will continue fighting to ensure regional Victorians receive their fair share.
Together with Jess Wilson and our Liberal colleagues, we are ready to deliver Victoria the fresh start it needs.
