In recent weeks, residents with loved ones at Belgian Gardens Cemetery have reported theft of memorabilia and vandalism of gravesites.
It is unthinkable that any member of our community would engage in such senseless and cruel behaviour.
Cemeteries are a sacred space and to have the safety of Belgian Gardens Cemetery desecrated by a handful of thoughtless and inconsiderate people is beyond disappointing.
Each of these illegal acts has real impacts on families in our community. Residents should feel comfortable and safe paying their respects to their loved ones without fear of having mementos stolen or damaged.
