Stolen motorcycle stopped; rider charged at Narrandera, NSW

A man has been charged with multiple traffic and drug related offences after a motorcycle stop on the states south west yesterday.

About 10.20am (Thursday 14 October 2021), police attached to Riverina Highway Patrol’s Strike Force Puma were conducting patrols of Narrandera area when they noticed two motorcycles with no registration plates, enter a service station on the Newell Highway and Charles Streets, Narrandera.

One of the motorcycles allegedly sped from the station upon seeing police.

The other motorcycle was stopped and police spoke with the rider – a 27-year-old man – before he allegedly became aggressive and resisted as police arrested him.

Subsequent inquiries revealed the rider was unlicenced and the motorcycle itself was reported stolen.

During a search of the rider, police located a small amount of methylamphetamine.

He was arrested and taken to Narrandera Police Station where he returned a positive drug test, which has been sent for further testing.

Further inquiries revealed mobile phone footage of the man allegedly conducting burnouts and driving at speed in a vehicle earlier this year.

The Yanco man was charged with unlicensed for class, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, resist officer in execution of duty, possess prohibited drug, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, interfere with person’s enjoyment or risk safety, and breach of bail.

He was bail refused to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court Today (Friday 15 October 2021).

Inquiries to locate the second rider continue.
