Stonnington up for state circular economy award

Our Go Full Circle program has been shortlisted for a Tidy Towns Sustainability Award from Keep Australia Beautiful.

The program has been recognised under the category EPA Waste Prevention and Reduction, which acknowledges projects that support a circular economy and focus on minimising what goes into landfill.

Delivered with City of Boroondara and City of Melbourne, Go Full Circle supports local business owners to embed a circular economy approach into their business operations. The second round of the program gets underway soon with another group of Stonnington business owners eager to identify opportunities to drive stronger financial, environmental and social outcomes, through a circular economy.

The Keep Australia Beautiful Awards recognise the environmental achievements of community groups, educational institutions, businesses and councils committed to keeping Victoria beautiful.

They celebrate initiatives that empower people, change behaviour, protect the environment, reduce waste, engage youth and Indigenous communities, and promote community spirit and resiliency.

With more than 130 award entries this year, City of Stonnington is delighted to have been recognised.

The KooyongKoot Alliance has also been shortlisted under the category Environment, which recognises projects that protect, restore and prevent damage to the natural environment. Made up of more than 20 Friends Groups, including several from Stonnington, the KooyongKoot Alliance is dedicated to advocating and caring for Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) and its catchment. We sit on the Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) Regional Collaboration Steering Committee and support its work.

The awards will be presented on Monday 23 October at Zinc, Fed Square, Melbourne.
