Strike Force Raptor charge former Rebels OMCG member and associate with weapons and drug offences, NSW

Strike Force Raptor have charged a former member of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) and an associate after weapons and a stolen motorcycle were seized from a home on the Central Coast yesterday.

As part of ongoing targeting of the illicit activities of OMCG and suppressing violent acts, the Criminal Group Squad’s Strike Force Raptor, with the assistance of the Public Order and Riot Squad, executed a search warrant at a home in Emu Drive, San Remo, about 7.30am (Wednesday 30 January 2019).

Inside the property, investigators seized three replica firearms, an extendible baton, a torch with an electronic control function, a small amount of Diazepam, cannabis and methylamphetamine, and a Yamaha motorcycle, alleged to have been stolen from a break-in at Merewether in December 2018.

During a search of a vehicle, officers seized another replica firearm, a red and blue dash mounted light and handcuffs. The vehicle was also seized.

A 50-year-old man and a 37-year-old man were arrested at the property and taken to Wyong Police Station.

The older man, who is a former high-ranking member of the Rebels OMCG, was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised pistol, possess unauthorised firearm and two counts of possess prohibited weapon.

The younger man was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive while disqualified, two counts of possess prohibited drug and possess prohibited weapon.

Both men were refused bail and are due to appear before Wyong Local Court today (Thursday 31 January 2019).

Inquiries are continuing.
