Strong gains for Griffith in 2022 QS World University subject rankings

Griffith University has improved its position in all five broad subject areas ranked by QS in its annual World University Rankings by Subject evaluation and has been ranked in 27 specialist subject areas, including three in the global top 50 – equal second in Queensland.

Griffith’s Top 50 subjects are Hospitality and Leisure Management (25), Nursing (26) and Sports-related subjects (31) while Performing Arts has been ranked in the 51-100 band.

Broad discipline rankings reflect the University’s overall strength in teaching and research and improvement in all five broad areas reflects the high standards at Griffith across the board.

The highest ranked broad subject area is Griffith’s Social Sciences and Management, achieving 203rd position globally in 2022, up from 238th the previous year.

Griffith Vice Chancellor and President Professor Carolyn Evans said the substantial improvements were a wonderful recognition of the University’s ongoing efforts to deliver globally relevant, meaningful research and world class learning and teaching opportunities for its growing student body.

“To be recognised as one of the world’s top universities, ranked in the top 50 in three specialist subjects and to show such a significant lift in results across all the broad areas is an outstanding achievement in a challenging period for the University and the sector,” Professor Evans said.

This year, QS introduced a new metric for its ranking of broad subject areas, taking into account research conducted with global partners.
